Event Coordination

To provide parents with all of the information they need to help them and their kids get "out and about" to fantastic opportunities for fun, education, and cultural enrichment in our area. The Magic House, a 501 (c)(3) not-for-profit organization, was founded by two St. Louis women, Jody Newman and Barbie Freund, who volunteered three years of their time to create a cultural institution that would be both educational and fun. Saint Louis Public Library cardholders can check out a free pass, just like a book, for admission to MADE, valid for admission for two adults and up to four children from the same household. Once used for admission, the pass (issued on a lanyard) will be collected at the desk and returned to the library. The Magic House, St. Louis Children’s Museum embraces diversity, equity, and inclusion as essential to our mission. We value and seek to support the uniqueness of each member of our community including their race/ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation and identity, ability, age, socioeconomic level and religious/spiritual identities.

Wonder Why? Early Childhood Learning Lab

The Magic House has frequent special events, generally giving participants access to play in the museum afterward. One of the most popular, Big Truck Day, will blow the minds of your young vehicle lovers. Generally held in the fall, it’s a ticketed event that brings cranes, fire trucks, bucket lifts, sleeper cab trucks, and more up close for examination and exploration. Admission also includes a hot dog lunch and private playtime in Trike Town.

The Magic House, St. Louis Children’s Museum

In 2019, to further extend the reach of The Magic House in the community, we opened MADE for Kids, a new satellite location created for children ages 4-14 on the north side of Delmar Boulevard in the City of St. Louis. Since it opened, MADE for Kids has served over 60,000 visitors and developed important community partnerships in the region and implemented a workforce development initiative for neighborhood youth. Throughout our history, The Magic House has sparked the imaginations of more than 10 million visitors.

The Magic House is committed to sharing our resources with all children, especially those who have the fewest opportunities. The Star Society annual fund and the Education Program Fund both provide free field trips, outreach programs and other hands-on learning experiences for children, families and schools in need. As part of the museum’s commitment to provide beauty, wonder, joy and magic for everyone, The Magic House also provides events and programs for special populations including new Americans, military families, seriously ill youth and foster children.

Throughout its history, education has been at the core of The Magic House’s mission. The Magic House offers a wide variety of interactive learning experiences encouraging and inspiring students of all ages to become lifelong learners, including field trips, family STEAM nights, scout programs and summer camps. The Magic House continually updates our hands-on exhibits to reflect current educational priorities like STEAM, civic education, and 21st-century learning skills, while aligning with the interests and needs of children today.

This exhibit transports kids back to the time of dinosaurs and encourages basic scientific learning. If you are purchasing a membership as a gift for someone we will send a gift certificate to the email account the membership was purchased under to share with the gift recipient. To learn more about our digital membership cards check out this video. Order your snack or meal before your visit with our new online ordering system. Plus, extend your visit by enjoying your meal on our patio or pavilion. The storied Magic Castle, a private club tucked into a Hollywood hillside, may be the most prominent magic venue in Los Angeles.

The Magic House has had a long-term commitment to provide Access for All, an initiative to offer free admission and learning experiences to families and schools from under-resourced areas. The Magic House is a not-for-profit organization that offers hands-on exhibits and educational programs reflecting the special interests and needs of children. The Museum offers a wide variety of interactive learning experiences encouraging and inspiring students of all ages to become lifelong learners, including field trips, family STEAM nights, scout programs and summer camps. Through a series of expansions, The Magic House has grown from 5,500 square feet to 55,000 square feet,  featured hundreds of new exhibits, and have welcomed over 15 million visitors! We are honored to have provided families in the St. Louis region, and around the country, a place where imaginations are sparked, curiosity is piqued, and problem-solving skills are developed through a variety of hands-on experiences. Family Plus ($250) is a great option for parents and kids from a single household who want to get into both museums.

The recycling/upcycling craft area offers fun tools from scissors and needle/thread to hot glue guns. Memberships can be purchased online or in-person at The Magic House. Older children enjoy our Make-It Workshop, where they sew on a real sewing machine, create a unique sculpture out of recycled materials, see a 3D printer in action and more. At age 50, 13 years into his retirement from professional basketball, the Hall of Famer and former point guard for the Los Angeles Lakers knows what it means to chill. During the week Johnson oversees the myriad commercial and charitable ventures administered by Magic Johnson Enterprises and the Magic Johnson Foundation.

The deposit is 20% of the total amount of the contract and the final balance is due in full no less than 14 days prior to your event. Went there with our son and his family to let the grandkids run around. A little pricey when you pay the same price for everyone, one year and older. MADE for Kids is a bit like the Art Studio/Make-It Workshop at The Magic House, supersized, with STEAM activities from digital painting and a well-stocked art/craft studio to pottery wheel, button-making station, and 3D printing projects.

Finally, there are usually a couple of flash sales each year for the higher membership levels, so following The Magic House on social media is a good idea. In addition to elevators and ramps throughout the building, we offer additional accessible entrances at the Emerson Education Center and Members Entrance, located closest to accessible parking spaces. Families can bring food to the Museum’s outdoor Garden Pavilion. These facilities are available on a first come, first serve basis. Outside food is not allowed within the Museum or Picnic Basket Cafe.
